Caption
Siege of Ratisbonne. The Battle of Regensberg, also called the Battle of Ratisbonne took place from 19th to 23rd April 1809 between France and Austria. The French forces were under the command of Baron de Coutaud and the Austrian forces were commanded by Charles the archduke. The battle finished after the Austrain army retreated. Napoleon was injured during the battle by a bullet that struck his elbow. The bullet was fired from a distance and therefore avoided seriously injuring the Emperor, leaving only a contusion. This was the only time that Napoleon was injured throughout all of his campaigns.
