Loading mails on board an Imperial Airways liner at Croydon Airport, c1936 (c1937). The mail is brought from London to the aerodrome in streamlined cars painted blue to distinguish the airmail. The world's first scheduled airmail post service took place in the United Kingdom between Hendon, North London, and Windsor, Berkshire, on 9 September, 1911, as part of the celebrations for King George V's coronation.
