Strongly in favor of the formation of Czechoslovakia (1919), he was the state's Minister of Foreign Affairs before chairing the Society of Nations and then becoming President of the Republic (1935-1938; president-in-exile from 1940 to 1948). Architect of the security system in Europe, based on the Little Entente and the Soviet Alliance.
