Jacques Bénigne Bossuet (1627-1704). French churchman, preacher and writer. Appointed Bishop of Condom, he renounces this post to become the preacher to Dauphin Louis of France, son of Louis XIV. He is elected as a member of the French Academy, and becomes the Bishop of Meaux in 1681.
