Anne, Duke de Joyeuse (1561-1587). Admiral of France, one of Henry III's closest friends (known as Les Mignons). Governor of Mont Saint-Michel beginning in 1579, then duchy of Alençon and finally, duchy of Normandy. Sacrificed the benevolence of Henry III by having 800 Huguenots (protestants) massacred in Saint-Eloi. He was imprisonned and later killed at the battle of Coutras.
