King of France from 1559 to 1560, son of Henry II and Catherine de' Medici. He married Mary Stuart (Mary I) in 1558 and became King of Scotland. Due to his poor health, he was under the control of his wife's relatives, the Guise family, who were partisans of a long repression of the Protestants. Orléans and the Chateau de Blois were the preferred places of the young Francis II.
