Louis VII (1120-1180, crowned King of the Francs in Reims, in 1137). Son of Louis the Fat and Adèle de Savoie. Excommunicated by the pope in 1141, he is absolved of his guily by completing a pilgrimage to Jerusalem during the Second Crusade, an act which considerably weakened the kingdom.
