Caption
Jeanne Françoise Julie Adélaïde Récamier, or Juliette (1777-1849), a woman of spirit and a Merveilleuse of the Directoire society. Married to a rich Parisian banker, she opened a salon that quickly attracted a selective (and partially royalist) society, as well as a certain suspicion. Madame de Staël and Madame de Chateaubriand were counted among her closest friends.
