Bernard de Fontaine, abbot of Clairvaux (1090-1153) was a French monk and reformer. Canonized by the Catholic Church in 1174, thus becoming Saint Bernard of Clairvaux. Secretary of the Council of Troyes (1128), he is the one who recorded the statutes of the Templars. He preached the Second Crusade, as requested by Pope Eugene III in Vezelay, year 1146.
