Title
Emile Zola, defender of Dreyfus.
Caption
Emile Zola (1840-1902). The author of "J'accuse..." ("I accuse"), an article which denounces the arbitrary accusations made against Captain Alfred Dreyfus, condemned to life imprisonment in 1895. He thus spurred a revision of the judgement and Dreyfus was eventually bailed out, the fine being paid by Octave Mirbeau.
