Benjamin Constant de Rebecque (1767-1830) was a Swiss-born French politician and writer. An MP in Sarthe in 1819, then in Paris in 1824, head of the liberal left-wing opposition (known as « Independants »), he was one of the Natioanl assembly's most eloquent orators.
