THE QUEEN AND THE VOLUNTEERS, 1897: An address has been presented to Her Majesty the Queen by the National Artillery Association in this record year of her reign. The wording is as follows: "1837-1897. To Her Most Gracious Majesty Victoria, Queen of Great Britain and Ireland, and Empress of India. The Council of the National Artillery Association crave permission to repeat their expressions of loyalty to Your Majesty and offer their thanks for the interest which Your Majesty has continuously displayed toward the Volunteer Force generally, and this Association in particular. They offer their humble congratulations to Your Majesty on the attainment of the Sixtieth year of your reign with most sincere wishes that you may be spared to your loyal people for many happy years to come." It is in gold and colours, beautifully illuminated upon vellum, the whole being enclosed in a crimson morocco roll case.
