Unfinished sampler or lettercloth worked in colored silk on finely woven linen, marked 1770 HVDP 1832, lettercloth sampler embroidery needlework images silk linen, textile embroidery cross stitch Rectangular piece of bleached woven linen around hem edge of 0.4 cm. On the lap is embroided in cross stitch in the colors green yellow dark red dark pink light pink and blue. On the surface dark gray mid-gray white yellow and purple. Along the hem embroided decorative edges on the left and right vine with yellow and red bunches above and below an edge with pink and blue bell-shaped flowers. At the very top below the flower border an alphabet in cross stitch in Gothic letters with between two stylized crowns 1770 below again the alphabet but in larger letter forms also ending on 1770 The central plane is framed by narrow line in cross stitches in yellow and brown and green and reddish brown embroided, letter series and 1770 1832 HVDP needlework
