- On a plate, placed on the column, an inscription: 'Galien natif de Pergame ville d'Asie, excellent médecin vivait du temps des Empereurs Antonin I le philosophe et de Commandus, on tient qu'il a vécu 140 ans' (Galien, born in Pergamon city of Asia, brilliant doctor, lived during the time of Emperors Antonin I the Philosopher and of Commandus, it was said he died at the age of 140'
