Créé par Charles VII de Naples en 1738, l’ordre de Saint-Janvier sera mis en sommeil durant l’Empire, les propos de l’Empereur sur le sujet étant très explicites : "On ne peut pas entendre en Europe le nom de Saint-Janvier sans rire".
