Mr James Sadler's famous ascent, accompanied by captain Paget of the Royal Navy in a balloon decorated to honour the Prince Régent's birthday from the Mermaid Tavern gardens, Hackney (county of Middlesex) on 12th August 1811 at three o'clock. They landed twently minutes later in a field near the Tilbury Fort in Essex.
