François-Louis-Joseph Watteau, known as Watteau de Lille (1731-1798) painted severall works documenting Jean-Piere Blanchard's fourteenth aerostatic experiment, accompanied by Chevalier Lépinard on the 26th August 1785 in Lille. They are kept in the musée de l'Hospice Comtesse à Lille.
A coloured etching dedicated to the magistrates of the town in Flandre was drawn from one of these original pictures.
The picture was sold to L. Watteau rue and l'église St Pierre.
