Napoleon had a plan to invade England. The former commander of the first aéronaut company Llomond believed it wouldn't be possible to invade the country by sea, but by air. This resulted in a plan to create balloons using the principles attributed to the hot-air balloon (montgolfière) of Jean-François Pilâtre de Rozier and Romain"La Tour de Calais," or the "Thirolières", named after its inventor Mr Thilorier, a state council advocat, which was able to carry 100 men and 25 horses. The plan didn't go ahead, however the news spread all over England. The rumour was so forceful that it transformed into an unwavering conviction. Pamphlets, prints, small paintings, pictures and detailed descriptions were spread over the island.
