Title
Mosaic in Madaba depicts fish trying to avoid being swept into the Dead Sea.
Caption
The town of Madaba, overlooking the Dead Sea, was a Byzantine bishopric famous for a flourishing mosaic school. Beautiful mosaic floors, some dating from AD562 are found in many buildings in Madaba. The mosaic pictured shows fish desperately trying to avoid being swept into the Dead Sea with its high alkaline content.
