Sleeve of the dress of the First Consul Bonaparte
Naccara silk velvet, cherry colour
The city of Lyons offered Bonaparte this dress, which became its official dress. Il disappeared in 1815. This sleeve comes from his tailor Chevallier's collections. He had to replace a sleeve, because Bonaparte spilled sauce on it (it was impossible to clean off). At the time, this sleeve cost 50 francs.
