This hat was given to General Mouton in May 1809, after his brilliant victory at the battle of Essling.
Each hat was charged 60 francs, but Napoleon refused to pay more than 49 francs for each of them)
It is estimated that Napoleon used approximately 170 hats between 1802 and 1815.
