THAILAND, North, Mae Hong Son, "Nai Soi. The Long neck Karen (or Padaung) people are originally from Myanmar. After fleeing persecution in their native country, many took up residence across the border in Thailand where they have became a tourist attraction. This new role has provided them with an income and a stable and sustainable environment. From the age of six, the girls wear the traditional bronze rings around their necks and legs. As the rings are added over a period of years, their necks elongate. Once attached, the rings remain in place for life"
