The construction of the Palace of Versailles begun in 1623 and is one of the most beautiful achievements of French art. Over a century it became the seat of the political power and the house of Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI. Versailles remains the symbol of royal absolutism and luxury. Now the Palace houses the Museum of History of France and is visited by thousands of tourists each year who come to see the majestic gardens, the orangery and the Queen's Hamlet.
