40
years after her death, Maria Callas is
still one of the greatest opera singers
of the 20th century. Thanks to her
unique voice timbre and her talent for
tragedy, she was able to play her
characters with great intensity.
In
1947 she meets her mentor and future
husband Giovanni Battista Meneghini. But
it was 10 years later, on September 3,
1957 that her life changed: she was
introduced to a rich shipowner named
Aristotle Onassis. Then begins a
tumultuous love story which will last
for 9 years.
In 1960, La Callas' career begins to
decline. Health problems gradually cause
a decline in her voice which will lead
her to stop her career at age 40.
Nevertheless,
the Diva will remain the one who changed
the lyrical art during 20th century both
with her rare musicality and great
virtuosity.
