Zain Manuel has lived in the Bokaap in his whole life as did his father and grandfather. He appreciates the traditions of the Bokaap including the Coon Carnival, Ramadan and Christmas. According to him it is a nice peaceful area. "Everybody knows everybody" he says. Zain has two sons Mohammed and Riyaad. His mother's mother came from District Six, but he does not know when his other ancenstors came to the area.
