Ellaiah Tundura strides out under the oppressive mid day heat. The drought has been so severe in the Zambezi Valley that none of the crops have survived. As a church leader, however, Tundura is part of a team which, with the help of donors, are assisting the people of the area with basic food stuffs. Part of this programme is to teach people a drought resistant method of farming called zero tillage. In October 2002 in the midst of the drought the first demonstration plot had just begun to push up green leaves of maize even when all other crops were failing. The church movement and donors did not want to be named for fear of the Zimbabwean government clamping down on their work as has happened recently with other aid agencies
