Scene from Mozart's opera "Don Giovanni" 1787 (c1914). Opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), Austrian composer, first performed in Prague in 1787. The libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte (1749-1838) was based on Moliere's play of 1665 "Don Juan, ou le festin de Pierre" ("Don Juan, or the Stone Banquet"). Here Don Giovanni is attempting to seduce Zerlina, a country girl to whom he sings "Give me thy hand, oh fairest" ("La ci darem la mano"). From "A Day With Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart" by May Byron.
