Thomas Henry Huxley (1823-1883) British biologist, 1871. Huxley at the time of his presidency of the British Association for the Advancement of Science. Was known as 'Darwin's bulldog' for his championship of evolution by natural selection after the publication of Darwin's "On the Origin of Species" in 1859. From "The Illustrated London News".
