The Princess Louise Home for fatherless and orphaned girls, Wanstead, Essex, England, which took in 40 to 50 girls a year. The girls did all the domestic work in the home and many went on to work in 'domestic service' as maids and cooks. They were also given a basic education in reading, writing and arithmetic.
