Frederich Wilhelm Ludwig Leichhardt (1813-48?) Prussian (German) explorer and naturalist. In 1848 he began a journey across Australia from east to west starting from Moreton Bay. He disappeared and no traces of him have ever been found. "The Illustrated London News" (London, 1846).
