Mrs Maria Anne Fitzherbert (born Smythe - 1756-1837). Married the prince of Wales, 1785 (later George IV) and lived with him until 1803. The marriage was declared illegal under the Royal Marriage Act 1772 as Mrs Fitzherbert was a Roman Catholic, and George III's consent had no been sought. Engraving.
