Henryk Sienkiewicz (1846-1916) Polish historical novelist who received the Nobel prize for Literature in 1905. His novel "Quo Vadis" (1895), set in Rome during the time of the emperor Nero, has been filmed several times. Engraving from "Great Thoughts from Master Minds" (London, 1901).
