Légende
Lion's head From the Temple of Ninhursag / Tell al-'Ubaid / southern Iraq / About 2600-2400 BC. A guardian figure for the temple discovered in 1919 at the small site of Tell al-'Ubaid / close to the remains of the city of Ur. The head / made of sheet copper over a bitumen core / was found beside the platform-stairs. It had been damaged by the weight of the brickwork which had probably fallen from the temple on top.
