David Elazar (27 August 1925 â€ì 15 April 1976) Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), serving in that capacity from 1972 to 1974. He was forced to resign in the aftermath of the Yom Kippur War. The first concrete result of this was the initial military disengagement agreement, signed by Israel and Egypt on January 18, 1974.
