Queen Jadwiga
Légende
Queen Jadwiga wearing her cape and crown and holding her sceptre, 1391. Jadwiga was the monarch of Poland and was the sovereign in her own right - her official title was 'king' rather than 'queen' to reflect this. When she died in childbirth her husband managed to retain the throne for a further 35 years despite the fact that he had no real, solid claim to the throne.
