Légende
Algernon Talmage, (1871-1939) Bathers, Pas de Calais, the French name for the Straits of Dover. A group of fashioned female bathers has gathered on the dunes, taking shelter from the bright sunshine under a pine tree in the foreground. Talmage was primarily a landscape painter whose work can loosely be described as English Impressionist in their free brushwork and concern with the effects of light.
