Mythological scene with Ceyx and Alcyone transformed into kingfishers ('halcyons') and breeding a nest on a shore at left, Aeolus standing on the shore outside a cave while brandishing his sceptre at the gods of the winds who are trapped inside the cave. Engraving depicting Jason and the Argonauts from 'Tableaux du temple des muses' (1655) by Michel de Marolles (1600 - 1681), known as the abbé de Marolles; a French churchman and translator.
