Little Orleans, Maryland, The towpaath in the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historic Park. The canal operated from 1831 to 1924, carrying coal from the Appalachian Mountains. Hikers and bicyclists can now follow the canal's towpath from Washington, DC to Cumberland Maryland, and then on a rail trail to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
