John Baldwin Buckstone (1802-1879), English comedian and playwright, born in Hoxton, London. He made his first appearance in London on 30 January 1823 at the Surrey Theatre in Fortunes of Nigel, based on the historical novel by Walter Scott, which was first published in 1822. As a playwright, he mainly wrote melodramas and farces.
