Königstein Fortress is one of the largest mountain fortresses in Europe. It is located in the middle of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains on the table mountain of the same name above the town of Königstein on the left bank of the Elbe in the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains.
