The Pöppelmann Bridge, probably the most famous bridge, spans the Mulde in the northern part of the old town. The heritage-protected structure from 1719 originally had six basket arches, four of which have been preserved since the August floods in 2002. Since 2012, the middle section of the bridge has consisted of a steel tube truss bridge. The bridge is 143m long
