Andreas Hofer (* 22 November 1767 at the Sandhof near St. Leonhard in Passeier in the former county of Tyrol, † 20 February 1810 in Mantua, Italy) was an innkeeper at the Gasthaus Am Sand and cattle dealer. In his role as leader of the Tyrolean uprising movement of 1809, he is regarded as a freedom fighter against the Bavarian and French occupation of his homeland.
