The hairdressers of the west sectors are hard hit by the power cuts. There is power for only two hours per day and two hours per night during the Berlin Blockade. That is why a hairdresser makes the hair of a customer outside of the salon, under bright sunshine, on 30 July 1948. A transport plane of the US Air Force is ready for discharging, at Berlin Tempelhof airport, in 1949. 50 years ago, on 24 June 1948, the USSR imposed a blockade on Berlin as a reaction to the currency reform. All land and waterways were blocked for passenger and freight traffic between West Berlin and West Germany. The supply of the West Berlin population and the western allied occupation took place by an airlift established by the USA and Great Britain.
