A late but all the more warm thank you for Gail Halvorsen: the airlift veteran, who became famous as the "Candy Bomber", is welcomed by Mercedes Wild (r) and Johanna Hoppe with a kiss, on 11 May 1998, in front of a "Raisin Bomber" type Douglas C-54, at Berlin-Tempelhof airport. During the Berlin Blockade, Halverson dopped candy for the children, including Johanna and Mercedes.
