Two young people from East Berlin celebrate the immininent German reunification with a GDR flag in Berlin, former GDR, 02 October 1990. Almost one million people celebrated the German reunification at midnight. 45 years after the end of World War II, the German citizens are reunited again in a sovereign state. Prior to that, the regime of SED (Socialist Unity Party of Germany) had collapsed rapidly. Urged by the population, GDR opened its borders on 09 Nobember 1989.
