German flags captured during demonstrations for the German reunification at Plauen in Saxony, former GDR, 27 January 1990. Prior to that, the regime of SED (Socialist Unity Party of Germany) had collapsed rapidly. GDR opened its borders on 09 November 1989, only one year later on 03 October 1990 German citizens were reunited again in a sovereign state 45 years after the end of World War II.
