Several hundred GDR citizens protested for freedom of travel in Leipzig, former GDR, September 4th 1989. Among the most often used slogans were: We want to get out of here! ('Wir wollen raus'), 'Freedom of Travel instead of mass escapes' ('Reisefreiheit statt Massenflucht'). Several people were arrested, plain clothed GDR state security service (STASI) agents in tore down protest banners during the rally.
