US soldiers land in Germany for participation in maneuver REFORGER I

A soldier of the US army is reading a book about German habits during his arrival from the USA on 21st January 1969 at Nürnberg airport. The book was given to the soldiers by the army. The soldiers participate in the maneuver REFORGER I - Return of Forces to Germany. About 17,000 soldiers took part in the maneuver, many of them were brought to Germany by airlift. The soldiers' equipment is stored for the most part in depots in Germany.
