Several armoured personnel carriers and some heavy Patton tanks of the US army have arrived at border crossing point Friedrichstrasse in West Berlin on the 30th of August in 1961.
The sudden intensification of the US army followed an incident in East Berlin on the same day, where a car with a Captain and three soldiers of the US army was held by the People's Police for an hour.
