Workers building a weatherproof border lodge for the US soldiers at checkpoint Friedrichstraße, called Checkpoint Charlie. From the 13th August 1961, the day of the construction of the wall, until the of November 1989, the fall of Berlin Wall, the Federal Republic of Germany and the GDR were seperated into West and East by the 'Iron Curtain'.
